Sample response:
The Apollo: the theater of dreams
Never before have you seen such an incredible spectacle like the one you will see at the Apollo. It's not just the facilities and the staff that make this place so great, but also the incredible acoustics for such a large venue.
From the moment you walk into the place, there is a wonder about it. All the great artists of recent times have played here and you can feel the buzz as soon as you walk in. The crowd is so close to the stage that you can literally feel the beads of sweat rolling off your favorite artist's eyebrows, it creates an amazing connection between the musicians and the audience and I can tell you the fans go crazy!
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, it has a great feel to it and the prices are on the lower end of what you would expect to pay for such a place. They also don't go overboard on drink prices and strangely it's not that hard to get to the bathroom which is a plus. So without a doubt, the next time your favorite band comes out to play, come to the Apollo, oh, and did I mention it's in London? Could not be better.

HOW IS THE EXAM MARKED?
It is a huge advantage if you understand how Cambridge will assess your writing, as you can ensure that you meet specific requirements when completing assignments. We provide an explanation of the grading rubric and TIPS on how to pass with ease. It doesn't matter if your exam is taken on the computer (CB) or on paper (PB), the exam is marked by an official certified examiner and is therefore subjective, the more interesting and easy it is to grade, the better!
Rating scale:
All Cambridge exams are marked in the same way, but the grading scales leave some room for interpretation and are therefore somewhat subjective.Examiners assess tasks using grading scales that have been developed with explicit reference to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The scales, which are used across the spectrum of the Cambridge English General and Business English writing tests, consist of four subscales: Content, Communicative Realization, Organization and Language:
Felizfocuses on how well the candidate accomplished the task, that is, did they do what was asked of them. DO NOT INCLUDE IRRELEVANT INFORMATION. YOU MUST ANSWER THE TASK POINTS TO THE BEST YOU CAN. FOCUS ON WHAT IT ASKS YOU TO DO.
communicative achievementfocuses on how appropriate the writing is to the task and whether the candidate used the appropriate register. YOU MUST USE APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE, WHETHER FORMAL OR INFORMAL. EACH TYPE OF TEXT HAS ITS OWN REQUIREMENTS.
Organizationfocuses on how the candidate puts together the essay, that is, if it is logical and orderly. THE TEXT SHOULD BE EASY TO FOLLOW, BUT ALSO INCLUDE COMPLEX VOCABULARY AND GRAMMAR STRUCTURES.DO NOT COMPLICATE THE TEXT!THE USE OF APPROPRIATE COHESIVE DEVICES IS ESSENTIAL.
Languagefocuses on vocabulary and grammar. This includes the range of the language, as well as its precision.. CANDIDATES MUST BE ADVENTUROUS WITH THEIR USE OF THE LANGUAGE AND USE A VARIETY OF COMPLEX GRAMMAR STRUCTURES (passives, inversions, separate sentences, conditionals, modal verbs, relative clauses, etc.)
Responses are scored on each subscale from 0 to 5.
When marking tasks, examiners take into account the duration of the answers and the varieties of English:
Length guidelines are provided for each task; Answers that are too short may lack proper language and may not provide all the necessary information, while answers that are too long may contain irrelevant content and negatively affect the reader. This may affect the candidates' scores on the corresponding subscales.
Candidates are expected to use a specific variety of English with some degree of consistency in areas such as spelling and not, for example, switch from using the British spelling of a word to the American spelling of the same word.
