Time:10 minutes (long line of 2 minutes for each candidate and about 6 minutes after long lines).
Type and format of the assignment:
You each get a chance to speak for 2 minutes, comment after your partner has spoken and engage in a more general discussion.
The interlocutor gives you a card with a written question and asks you to talk about it for 2 minutes. After you have spoken, the interlocutor asks you both another question related to the topic on the card, addressing your partner first. This process is repeated so that your partner receives a card and speaks for 2 minutes and a further question is asked.
Finally, the interlocutor asks additional questions that lead to a discussion of a general topic related to the topics already covered in Part 3.

C2 (CPE) Speaking: questions and answers
Who takes the speaking exam?
Candidates take the speaking test with an examiner and a partner. Some parts of the exam are self-paced and other parts involve your speaking partner.
Can candidates choose their partners?
Candidates are allowed to choose a partner, provided that the partner takes the same exam on the same date and place.
Maximum result
The maximum speaking score is 75 points, which corresponds to 230 (C2 grade A) on the Cambridge English scale.
Minimum result
The minimum speaking score is 45 points, which corresponds to 200 (C2 grade C) on the Cambridge English scale.
Are the written and oral tests on the same day?
This depends on the exam event you are applying for. This information is normally provided to applicants prior to registration.

CPE vocabulary should sound natural, like that of a native speaker, and should be relevant to the topic - for example a "ski instructor", not a "ski teacher". More than that, it should include a range of phrasal verbs, idioms and expressions to demonstrate familiarity and comfort with the language.
